Getting Through the Professional Exams

I began working at HSS in August 2012, a few months after graduating from Brock University. Within weeks of settling in at my new job I had to start studying and getting organized for the upcoming professional exams. One of the most difficult parts of the exam process was learning how to balance my time and learning how to deal with the stress.

One of the most important lessons I learned throughout the 12 months of studying was that taking time out of my day to do the things I love and that relaxed me was incredibly important. I have been a horse enthusiast since I was 12. I made sure throughout the studying process that I continued to spend time at the barn, riding and spending time with my horse. It’s important to find a happy and stress-free place to spend your downtime throughout the process.

I also had the support and help from my fellow colleagues at HSS to guide me through the process, which was also important in helping me get through professional exams.
My tips for success, stay positive, listen to your mentors, get lots of sleep, and find something you love that reduces stress and always make time for it throughout the busy process.
